On Friday night, Universal Studios Hollywood welcomed another year of Halloween Horror Nights with its 6th Annual Eyegore Awards Ceremony.
The studio that gave birth to many legendary horror icons honored more modern talent in the genre bestowing awards to Tobe Hooper (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre), Bill Moseley (Repo! The Genetic Opera), Gunnar Hansen and Julie Benz (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Saw V). Presenters included Roger Corman, Ogre from Skinny Puppy, Tom Lenk and Clare Kramer (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Cerina Vincent (Cabin Fever).
Corey Feldman (The Lost Boys, Lost Boys: The Tribe) presided over the evening as host, walking the red carpet with a cross/wooden stake in hand. When he took to the stage, Feldman sauntered up slowly wearing a Michael Myers mask pulling it off once he reached the podium. The man was in a playful mood that night.
The ceremony was brief (it felt shorter than last year) and the highlight of the evening was hearing Hooper voice his excitement over his new award. "Far out. This is far out," he repeated in his gruff voice. I think I heard him actually use the term "far- outest" at one point.
Overall, it was a fair night capped by a jolting good time in the park (full report to come). I'll be bringing you updates from the red carpet soon.
