No Sam Neill? Bah!
Still though, I'm up for a scarier JP movie. JP3 was okay, but not nearly scary enough.
Posted by: fubar on May 18, 2008 at 17:50:29
is the rumors true that they are gonna have dinosaurs with guns in this one because that sounds retarded
Posted by: Ryan Rotten on May 18, 2008 at 17:56:10
I always thought JP 3 was a good "Tales from Jurassic Park" episode. A story that doesn't really progress the franchise, but plays around in it - like a parallel story that you'd find in comic books or in a television series. I actually like JP 3 more than "The Lost World."

No dinosaurs with guns! Stop bringing that up. That was the worst rumour ever.
Posted by: I7eIVIoNBoY on May 18, 2008 at 19:11:53
dinosaurs with guns?? THATS BRILLIANT!!!
Posted by: Wade on May 18, 2008 at 19:49:30
Please, please, bring Sam Neill back! His role gave something to the Jurassic Park franchise. Hell, bring back Goldblum, Dern, and others from the 1st. Let's make the 4th JP the last one and make it as brilliant as the 1st one was.
Posted by: Chiefdoom on May 18, 2008 at 19:59:18
Damn I knew about this part for like 5 or 4 years. Been awhile.
Posted by: Scribe on May 18, 2008 at 20:08:07
Dinosaurs with guns? sounds like a bad Turok game... hmmm...
Posted by: Chiefdoom Sucks on May 18, 2008 at 20:21:51
Chiefdoom, why don't you do us all a favor and die?
Posted by: Taiwarriorz21 on May 18, 2008 at 21:37:35
I hope for the return of Dr. Alan Grant. Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Richard Attenborough, and Jeff Goldblum are the reason why Jurassic Park was such amazing hit when it first hit theaters. I would like see most well really all of them some kind of role.
P.S. Dinosaurs with guns! Ummm stupid!!! Dumb Dumb Dumb! I want JP IV to bring back the "awe-inspiring experience" when Jurassic Park was released. Man I dont think I've had that feeling since that movie.
Posted by: Fox Mulder on May 18, 2008 at 22:45:48
I really dig the Jurassic Park franchise, so this news is good. I guess since Goldblum and Sam Neill already went back, they feel the need to take Dern back to the Islands also...which is a dumb move since her character isn't that great. Richard Attenborough could make the movie fantastic if he were in it (Even though, hopefully, he wouldn't be the one fending off the dinosaurs).
I'm really, really glad that Spielberg is coming back for it though.
Posted by: Brett on May 19, 2008 at 00:12:19
Laura Dern in this one and then bring everybody back for a fifth (final) one. This one needs to be darker (and, hopefully, scarier) in tone than the past installments.
Posted by: Reanna on May 19, 2008 at 01:55:18
I hope they do make a JP4 they've been talking about this movie since JP3. Sad that Sam Neill might not be in it, but he could always change his mind. Happy that Laura Dern is going to have a bigger role in this one then she did in the third. She's a great actress who should be given the chance to play different roles, in this case the same role but maybe with more depth.

Bring back Sam Neil. The movie will be bland without him. Laura & he made a good team in the 1st movie - look forward to see them together again if possible. Movie will be like food without salt if he is not in

That rumor about dinos with guns was true, that was the script Monahan wrote. It leaked online last year I believe.
That idea has been scrapped and now *supposedly* the concept being bounced around is much better and actually logicial, all things considered. If you would clone these prehistoric animals you would also clone diseases they carry in their blood that they became immune to over the generations but that would be deadly to humans. And that's what the 4th JP film maybe about, a breakout of a virus from the dinos.
Posted by: Warner Brown on May 19, 2008 at 16:25:02
Hopefully they bring back more of the original. Making Laura Dern's character more of a lead is a good idea.
I hope on JP4 they return to the original island, use the original sets (overgrown w/ vines) tie in the missing canister as a Mcguffin. Hell, have a raptor that's evolution has genetically accellerated into a bipedal human-like reptilian on two legs, no dinosaurs with guns!

Sam Neil better appear in this movie. I am sick of these "grant: your in, everyone your out" or Jeff Goldblum's characters is in, and everyone is is out. Can't they just put the ENTIRE original cast in it?
and if they do that? no more BS story lines, I wish Michael Crichton wrote the screenplay....
Posted by: Jenna Tull on May 19, 2008 at 18:40:46
They need to bring back Richard Attenborough and include huge amounts of gratuitous nudity with him and a pack of Velociraptors having a wild orgy.
Posted by: GhostSong on May 20, 2008 at 02:30:13
I heard that in one draft of the script they were considering it involved Sam Neil and he kind of talked to everyone involved and asked: "What incredible kind of motivation is there for Dr. Grant to almost be eaten by dinosaurs again?"
I imagine there was a pause then everyone said, "Thats a good point."
Or Jenna's idea. I thats box office gold!

@ Alex M.
the reason why Crichton didn't write the third installment of Jurassic Park is the same reason why the second one paled in comparison to the first. Crichton never wanted to write a second book. Universal studios kept throwing money at him until he agreed. He felt that there was no story to tell, and honestly having read both books as well as seeing all three movies I can tell you at least for him he was right. The second story pales in comparison to the first both in book form and in my humble opinion on film. The third while not a horrendous film, I've absolutely seen worse, was better than the second. Truthfully if they want to get the story right and make the best possible film they need Crichton's writing. Unfortunately they will not. Unless I am mistaken he does not write sequels (the exception of course being Jurassic Park 2). I would love a good film that could capture the essence of the original; I just honestly don't see it.
@ Jenna Tull
I can honestly say that between dinosaurs with guns and a disgusting Richard Attenborough nude Velociraptor sex orgy I would take the orgy any day. It would be a much better waste of film.
@ Everyone
For the longest time Jurassic Park 4 has fallen into the same category as Goonies 2. No one ever expected it to be made. Unfortunately Spielberg as of late has almost lost as much of his mind as Lucas. Between air brushing walkie-talkies for guns in E.T. to "improve" it and not slapping Lucas across the face for the shear stupidity of "Crystal Skulls" makes for an untrustworthy cinematic icon. Don't get me wrong I love the majority of his work I even own a copy of his first film Duel which shows his great talent even in 1971 but how much money do you need? At what point in your career do you realize that you are doing more harm than good? I guess this is what happens when your ego is larger than the screen your films are shown on.
Oh and as a side note: www.filmdrunk.com/post.phtml?pk=1800 is hands down the best review of Crystal Skulls that I have read.

I want to see them back on Isla nubar, with most of the original cast.
A good plot would be if somehow hammond convinced them to start rebuilding the park and then all hell breaks loose and evryone dies.
it would caputure some of the 1st films essence and be entertaining at the same time.
according to the books the entire island ran on a geothermal system which could last for decades without repair. they could always play at that idea to explain why some things still worked.
the canister would be a good thing to bring back to sort of add to the suspense. it would finally give the characters a full understanding of why the park failed and give them false confidence that everything would work out because it was human greed that shut the 1st park down.
@jenna
good idea definatly would be a blockbuster.
anyone know if it will be realease in 2009 or 2010? imbd says 2009 but then says it will be produced for 2010?

Ok, I have loved Jurasic Park, since I was about 4 years old. The whole dinosaur thing is great. I have enjoyed all the 3 movies so far. But this stupid idea of having dinosaurs with guns, what the f*** is that about? Im, sorry, but that is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Whe I first found out that JP was coming back for a 4th movie, I was so excited. But now I've found out about this weapons ****, and I know that I am so not gonna like it. What are they gonna do, walk around Iraq with bazookas strapped to each side of theyre body. Bring back the dinosaurs in theyre natural habitat, and title this movie with some name that ndoesnt associate itself with Jurassic Park, because this is not worth a f***ing JP movie. Sorry bout all the swearing, but this is getting me mad. I really hope this is joke, or really bad rumour. Cuz I am not forking out money for DVD's/Bluerays/Tickets, to see this movie. Sack your 10 year old writer, and start again guys. Bad job! :(

This will be a must see if it does go down, and I hope it does. Sam Neill is the man though. I hope they can get him involved somehow. In the mouth of madness was awesome and he MADE that movie.
