Flatliners Remake is Going to Happen
Source:The Hollywood Reporter
August 26, 2011
Flatliners - which has been cherry-picked for ideas by other films since 1990 - is the next title to be remade by Hollywood.
THR says Columbia Pictures is spearheading the effort. Laurence Mark is producing and Ben Ripley (Source Code) will be writing.
Joel Schumacher directed the original film which starred Kiefer Sutherland, Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon, William Baldwin and Oliver Platt. Peter Filardi's script concerned med students who dabbled in near-death experiments.

Its ripe for a remake.
Shia LaBeouf, Anton Yelchin, Penn Badgley and Chad Michael Murray in the Kiefer Sutherland, Kevin Bacon, William Baldwin and Oliver Platt roles
Mischa Barton, Sophia Bush, Kat Dennings or Leighton Meester in the Julia Roberts role

I love Flatliners, and do not think a remake is necessary at all. I think it still holds up very well and do not wanna see a bunch of untalented teen taking over those rolls. This is one remake I will have to see to believe, because, I am not solf just on name value!

Another lazy remake of an r-rated original destined to pg-13 box office failure.
Hmm, wonder what will be next? Gremlins? Back to the Future? Die Hard? Angel Heart? Big Trouble in Little China? Dirty Harry? Jaws? Near Dark? Highlander? Speed? Terminator? Jacob's Ladder? Chinatown? Blade Runner? Videodrome? They're all coming eventually.
When there is no more creativity in Hollywood, the remakes shall flood the earth...

I really hate to tell "The Hitcher" this but both "Blade Runner" and "Highlander" are slated for remakes.
