I don't get the 'scary clown' phobia at all. I can respect it, but I don't understand it.

John Wayne Gacy is the only thing that comes to mind as an image of a scary clown.

I dont think they made this because there is that assumption that "clowns are scary" because that is not try and stems from someone else saying it. Then someone else takes that fear as their own and it spreads like wildfire.
I think they chose a clown in this film because clowns are neat looking characters and universal to allowing anyone be one. Regardless, this movie looks ****in awesome.
