Now There's Pride and Predator?
Source:Variety
February 17, 2009

I've double-checked the date...and it isn't April 1st, yet Variety reports Rocket Pictures, Elton John's production outfit, is overseeing Pride and Predator, another spin on Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice."

Will Clark (known for his short film "The Amazing Trousers") is directing from a script he penned with Andrew Kemble and John Pape. The story takes the trappings of the period costume drama and drops an blood-thirsty alien into the mix.

Shooting will begin in London later this year. John exec produces, and his Rocket partners Steve Hamilton Shaw and David Furnish are producing.

"It felt like a fresh and funny way to blow apart the done-to-death Jane Austen genre by literally dropping this alien into the middle of a costume drama, where he stalks and slashes to horrific effect," Furnish tells the trade paper.

This announcement comes on the heels of last week's news regarding the upcoming novel "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies."

why are they doing this? these ideas sound really stupid

couldnt be the real "predator" due to legal rights, unless they paid for the character use, which would probably cost them more than their whole budget...as im thinking this is a strait to DVD P.O.S.

why is this the new trend? anyone actually interested in seeing these jane austin with monster movies?

It says "a blood thirsty" alien which THE predator was not. Even if it is THE predator it can't be any worse than Alien vs. Predator 2.

General Gokemidoro

THE predator was blood thirsty, it was trying to kill people, thats what blood thirsty means.

Apparently the rights arent too hard to get because i remember seeing a short film which has Batman vs. Alien vs. Predator and it was actually pretty decent, you can probably find it on Youtube or something.

No, this won't be the actual "Predator" owned by Fox. And that fan-made movie you mentioned, Ico, isn't approved by the studio.

This is all very misleading and I think purposely so.
