Ghostbusters 3 Arriving in 2011

Source:Heeb
December 29, 2009

More talk from the Ghostbusters 3 camp to put a production timeline in perspective.

Within the last year, there's been much speculation, bullshit fake fan videos that have been erroneously identified as pre-production FX (seriously?) and recent talk from Sigourney Weaver to keep us guessing as to where the story will take the characters next.

Harold Ramis recently spoke to Heeb and had this to say about the project:

Something's going to happen. Dan [Aykroyd] did write a spec GB3 screenplay a few years ago, but no one was motivated to pursue it. Now, 25 years after the original, there seems to be some willingness to proceed and apparently a substantial public appetite for a sequel. We'll introduce some new young Ghostbusters, and all the old guys will be in it, too. Think Christopher Lloyd in Back to the Future...GB3 is progressing with plans to shoot next summer and release in 2011.

This summer might be an exciting time to live in New York City, home of the Ghostbusters, especially if the production decides to set up shop there. Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky are penning the third film...

Hey Doctor, you forgot that the two "geniuses" who are writing this movie and who write for the office...

...they wrote Year One as well.

If that doesn't get you excited than only a strong enema will.

Doctor, I can't imagine someone loving the first two films so much that he has both posters hanging in his bedroom, yet is THAT upset about a sequel. Shouldn't the continuation of a series you hold dear be a GOOD thing? ...Especially since there's no reason to get that upset until you actually SEE the film?

In this remake-crazed day and age, I find it refreshing that the film will actually be a sequel. I say bring it on - and if it sucks, we'll always have the original.

NO CARTOON CGI!!!! Go back to the original and follow those designs!!!

Sarcasm is hard to read sometimes.

hey TJG i really liked your comment it was good and honest and really appricated that you didn't start saying i was dumb for thinking that since this is a page where you speak your mind, i do love ghostbusters alot and i'm just afraid that it will suck, not only the posters but i got all the figures still mint and bought that really expessive lot of cartoons on dvd for $200, i re watched them and it was a good thing to grow up with but i don't feel we need a new movie if they themselfs(original actors) can't put on the proton packs again and kick some ghost ass thats what really grinds me gears!

RE: the doctor

If I've been reading the news quips on this correctly, most of the original cast (Raimis, Akyroid, Weaver) have been pretty vocal about wanting to be present for the next installment. Only Murphy has been quiet about his desire/lack-of desire to be involved. And Eernie Hudson, given his lackluster film career, would probably hump a dogs leg just to be credited... I guess what I'm trying to say here is simply this:
I understand that you want to stay in familiar ground with the franchize, and maintain what made the original movies fun and entertaining, but rationally, I wouldn't understand why ANY of the actors involved in the first few films wouldn't be returning for the next installment?! (Especially given the well documented interviews that substantiate this claim.) So your knee-jerk reaction in itself is unwarrented. The only person absent (so far) will most likely jump on board, so long as the rest of the cast stays involved, and a decent script is greenlit. So why get so upset? Sure, they may bring in some new blood to "reinvigorate" the franchize, but if the right cast is included, and the chemistry fits, why would you want to rob your children, or your children's children (figuratively) from an opportunity to see more Ghostbusters films in the future? The first two were so damned good that they couldn't possibly make another one?! Seems illogical, and honestly, a little selfish.
Hold out hope that they do it right, everyone comes back (trust me, they NEED the exposure!), and that they do the film justice! If not, I'll be next to you on the corner sidewalk at Grauman's, screaming profanities at everyone attending the premiere! ;-)

Adamant877

Who is this Murphy you speak of?The guy from Robocop was never in Ghostbusters was he?The first one is brilliant and a timeless classic but no one can seriously say that Ghostbusters two is a good film? Its good in a cheesy Ghostbusters way but as a film compared to the original is dire. Why would a third one make any difference? They will only get Bill Murry if its a good script and with todays effects I say bring it on!!!

Who you gonna call....

I'm all for this. I love the first two movies, but I hope all of the original cast returns. And I don't want this to focus mainly on the new characters.

Look, i've been a Ghostbusters fan for as long as most of you on here... every since I saw the first one as a small child... I own both DVD's, and know the first one by heart. Even though i know that some people may be turned off by The Office and Year One writers writing the script (and I LOVE the Office btw) keep in mind that Akroyd, Ramis AND Ivan Reitman are supervising and working with them on the revisions. So I have faith that since the originals are involved, all should be well. Another point, is that do you really thing Reitman and the guys won't have any input on the younger busters? Have faith in the guys we have loved since the 80's will make a great movie no matter who is in it or who writes the script. And if not, I'll joind adamant87 and doctor on the same street corner at the premier. But since the old cast and Reitman are involved, im not worried a bit.
