Screen Gems must have felt a kinship with Prom Night remake director Nelson McCormick, because they've asked him to return for their upcoming modern redo of The Stepfather. J.S. Cardone is on writing duties, this time throwing the focus to a young man who realizes his stepdad is a serial killer. Maverick Films' Greg Mooradian and Mark Morgan are producing.
It's fair to say, given Prom Night's reported PG-13 rating, that McCormick and his team might be aiming for a similar approach...which'll make this a perfect companion piece for the Disturbia audience.
