Daniel Radcliffe On the "Frightening" Woman in Black

While talking to the L.A. Times about his end to the Harry Potter series, actor Daniel Radcliffe talked about his upcoming gig: A turn in Hammer Films' The Woman in Black.

"When I met first met James Watkins, our director, he told me about a quote of Stanley Kubrick's, which was that all films about the afterlife or ghosts are innately consoling. I think there's something about that that is very true to our story. While it is a horror story and it is very frightening, it's also about loss and grief. I read it on a plane, and I don't know what the people around me must have thought. I kept jumping and gasping..."

That's a positive endorsement. The Woman in Black follows a young lawyer, Arthur Kipps (Radcliffe), who is ordered to travel to a remote village and sort out a recently deceased client’s papers. As he works alone in the client's isolated house, Kipps begins to uncover tragic secrets, and his unease grows when he glimpses a mysterious woman dressed only in black.

Shooting begins later this year.

I loved the BBC/made for TV original. Hope they don't screw up the remake. Most of the film hangs on the lead being alone & scared, so we'll see how Radcliffe does.
