Trick 'r Treat, Cell 2 DVD News

Source:DVD Talk, DVD Active
April 9, 2009

There's a slight change in the release date for The Cell 2. DVD Active reports the sequel to the trippy J. Lo serial killer thriller (which does not star the bootylicious babe) debuts through Warner Home Video on DVD and Blu-Ray on June 16th and not the 23rd. This installment stars Frank Whaley and Tessie Santiago. For a full plot synopsis click here.

Meanwhile, could we see Michael Dougherty's Trick 'r Treat (review) by year's end? According to a new "buy 5 Blu-Rays/get 1 free" promotion that's detailed here. You'll see the film is one of the participating titles which is "subject to change and availability."

Since I saw the picture last fall, there's not a month goes by where we don't hear some new rumor regarding its release. There are rumblings that solid distro news is coming soon. Nurture that patience of yours, it might be rewarded!

Trick R Treat must be released! This is disgusting how they are treating this movie. This movie should have been out back in october of 2007 c'mon already.

i've come to believe that TrT is just a old wives tale or urban legend told to us horror fans to drive us crazy/piss us off. if this IS true and TrT gets released then YAY!! i'll blind buy it, no problem. if this is another tease to us horror fans, then screw WB.

Check out the rest of that list... Terminator Salvation? Jonah Hex? Ninja Assassin? Then check the end date for the promotion... April 6th 2011! WB is giving themselves another two year window to get Trick r Treat released...

Shame using Trick r Treat to sell Blue Rays nobody wants on format Nobody Wants!

Sweet GOD-ALMIGHTY...might it actually come out???
And I'll totally buy it on blu-ray...but whatever. It's only blacker black and crisper whites, better sound, etc. etc.

Anyhow, I'm SURE it's coming out on both formats if it indeed ever surfaces!

haha, dj I agree!

Trick R Treat is like UFO's/Big Foot, few have claimed to have seen it, but to the rest of us it may never happen.

Posted by: Chris on April 9, 2009 at 17:31:54

Does anyone know if it has leaked online

Gee, I hope so. I've waited too long.

Posted by: chuck on April 9, 2009 at 17:49:55

i was so excited about this movie when i first saw the trailer for it but since waiting all this time i've lost the excitment to see it
but if it does come out this year i will get it
otherwise its just whatever!

I think trick 'r treat is never coming out. It's just a horribly genius ploy to get all us horror fans going crazy over when we can all see it

"Check out the rest of that list... Terminator Salvation? Jonah Hex? Ninja Assassin? Then check the end date for the promotion... April 6th 2011! WB is giving themselves another two year window to get Trick r Treat released..."

If you read the details, it says participating titles need to be purchased before April 6 , 2010 and Trick 'R Treat is listed as a participating title. The redemption titles, which are listed on the second list, have to be redeemed by the April 6, 2011 date. So there ya go...just knocked a potential year off of your wait!

Whatever happened to All the Boys Love Mandy Lane? Wasn't it supposed to come out around the same time as Trick 'R Treat? Why do studios sit on these movies for so long?

Posted by: chris on April 9, 2009 at 23:25:45

trick r treat is rumored to be coming to dvd and blu-ray oct 27th 2009 but i'll believe it when i see something official. all the boys mandy lane i have on a dvd-r with cover art is a great film abd i hear it is supposed to have a limited theatrical release july 17th 2009. another film that is taking forever is poughkeepsie tapes which is awesome i also have it on dvd-r with cover art mgm is supposed to be releasing this on dvd in 2009 also!!!

Mike, (i know, i know it's "not good to illegally download movies blah blah blah") but ALL THE BOYS...(a dvd rip of it, since it was released on DVD this past year in Europe) is available for viewing online. or on torrent sites.

djblack1313,

First off you guys should go to the link they found it, and then go to the link that would put you into the the WBs website it doesnt mention any of the movies on the list at posibles, it only mentions Yes Men, Hes not that into you and Grand Torino, that all no Trick R Treat is mentioned

Perhaps something happened to the list because the page that the link opens looks odd and incomplete. One thing is for certain though, if the promotion is a "buy five get one free" deal you can be pretty sure that the list of participating titles will be more than three items long.

When I Googled Trick 'R Treat the Wikipedia said it has a release date to the Theaters of April 24th of this year!!!!!! Hope to god its true!!!!

Posted by: Jeremiah Cassidy on April 11, 2009 at 15:45:37

The release date isnt true i hope it was tho not much time to market it for a wide opening or even lim opening on that date ive been hearing other things DTD is the way there going, which will suck cause the only thing on there DTD horror movies is a trailer and the movie no extras
